It’s funny how little, seemingly mundane things can be the tipping point for big things. At a church dinner in 2011, Joe Keith walked around picking up trash and paper plates. Little did he know that, like the first domino that falls in a line, this menial task caught the eye of Taylor Whitehouse and started them down a journey that has led them to the marriage altar. It was nothing, but something about Joe’s service slipped a switch in Taylor’s mind and she started to consider Joe as maybe more than just a friend. (Really, it was nothing, Joe actually didn’t even take the trash out, he told some junior high boys to do it.) It wasn’t long after that dinner that the two of them went on their first date and, after a little going back and forth, Joe got down on one knee and asked Taylor to be his forever.
Joe was so excited to see his gorgeous bride in the morning, and spend a moment together in prayer. It made ME excited to see how giddy Joe was to see Taylor. He couldn’t stop smiling and hugging her.
We took photos of Taylor, Joe and the bridal parties at the Maid of Honor’s house. The property was surrounded by the green forest that the Seattle area is so known for. Could you ask for a better background? I think not!
The groomsmen all arrived at the house at 11 am and started laughing at one of the groomsmen who had managed to buy the WRONG vest for the wedding and didn’t match the others. They didn’t let up on him all day… “But I told the salesman exactly what I wanted!” Then he chuckled “I was wondering why mine was so much cheaper than everyone else’s. I just thought I had found a great deal!”
Just like the emerald green of the property where the girls got ready, the ceremony was surrounded by trees and drenched in sunlight. Taylor is a great party planner and she and her family poured hours into the decorations for the celebration! I’ve never seen so many bottles full of flowers in one place in my life! I was in love with Taylor’s vision for the day… such a fresh and pretty visage… supported by the raw beauty given to us by the Creator.
As the minister asked for the rings, the best man felt for his pocket, then started to whistle. “Oh no he didn’t!!” Taylor started to say over and over…shock partially paralyzing her body that was also shaking with laughter. The best man whistled again a bark was heard from behind the crowd. Everyone turned around just in time to see Tuxedo, the grooms family dog, racing down the aisle toward the front…rings tied to his collar. The crowd’s giggles turned to laughter as Sam bent down to take the rings from the collar and handed them to the groom.
After the exchange of the rings, the parents of the couple came forward and huddled together to pray over the marriage as it began. These two are so blessed with the love and support of two amazing sets of parents who have put God first in their families and brought their children up to know and love the same Savior.
